There is a saying that if your only tool is a hammer, every problem will look like a nail. Which is why the best practice is to have a big belt with tools for every situation. These tools are simple, they do one specific task fast and efficiently. From simple file conversions to advanced image processing, this collection will surely make your life better – as they did for us.
Try them out, they’re completely free and they’re amazing at what they do.
FireShot
FiresShot is an extension for browser and it’s specifically made for screenshots. What makes it REALLY good is the ability to screenshot an entire web page, including scroll-down with lazy load.
Color Tab
Another cool extension for your browser that generates a new color palette every time you open a new tab. This one is amazing when you need to quickly build your palette from scratch.
Save Image as PNG
Another extension for Google Chrome. This one is great for one reason alone: it converts .WEBP files to .PNG automatically. A simple right-click -> Save Image as PNG and … done!
ColorPick Eyedropper
This tiny tool lets you pick colors in your browser and returns you the HEX code. It’s incredibly useful if you’re doing web design or want to quickly copy a color palette in your own projects.
ReNamer
This little app lets you batch rename, index, remove and replace characters, add suffixes and prefixes to all the files at once. It is incredibly versatile and it is very easy to use.
HandBrake
This small tool is great for quickly converting videos to MP4 and MKV, resize, crop and adjust the number of frames, add subtitles and more.
Emojipedia
Emojipedia is a website that helps you find emojis to sprinkle throughout your sales campaigns and social media posts. Everyone today uses emojis to express their reactions and you’d be missing out if you don’t.
ImageMagick
Although it carries a higher level of complexity than the others, it is too good to not mention it.
It is by far the most powerful tool you will ever use, period. It is absolutely bonkers what it can do. The caveat is that it requires a lot more time investment in learning it, as it offers a more programmatic approach towards editing. If you’re an absolute image editing nerd, this is the tool for you.
It is great for photographers in particular, as it can quickly create contact sheets, resize and apply effects over a large amount of images.
And that’s the simplest example I can think of.
